CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Pride, the local nonprofit organization which produces the annual Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade, has announced its 2019 recipients of its Champions of Pride Awards, as well as the grand marshals for this year’s Bank of America Charlotte Pride Parade.
Pride Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug 18 in Uptown Charlotte.
The festival will take place on S. Tryon St. between Trade and Stonewall and the parade will be held on N. Tryon St., starting at 9th St. and continuing toward Trade St. and College St.
This year’s parade grand marshals are Charlotte Black Pride and The Hon. John S. Arrowood. Charlotte Black Pride recently celebrated its 15th annual Charlotte Black Pride events. Judge John Arrowood currently sits on the North Carolina Court of Appeals and is the first openly LGBTQ person to win a statewide election in the South.
