Troutman Construction Worker Accused Of Stealing $500K Worth Of Heavy Equipment

CLEVELAND COUNTY, NC — A 33-year-old Troutman man is facing several charges after authorities say he stole and resold, or attempted to resell, $500,000 worth of heavy equipment.

Justin Wilson was arrested and charged with obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Investigators say Wilson was stealing and reselling heavy equipment throughout the region. The items, which included a dozer, excavator, skid steer, a tractor and a trailer, were reportedly valued at roughly half a million dollars.

The excavator and skid steer were stolen from Mt. Holly, officials say, and later recovered in Cleveland County. The other items were stolen from Gaston County and Pineville, and later recovered in Fort Mill, SC.

Officials say Wilson worked for a construction company and have experience operating the heavy equipment.
