GASTONIA, NC — Speed is blamed for causing a crash that spilled 3,000 gallons of raw sewage on highway 321 in Gastonia.  A lane of 321 that had been closed at Stagecoach Road reopened late Monday.  Troopers say the truck driver took a turn too fast and flipped.  Hazmat crews say none of the waste got into the water system.

“When I came outside, we had heard a loud crash in the house, and it kinda felt like rumbling in the house,” said Gastonia resident Kimberley Hoffman.  “and when I came outside, we saw the truck was turned over, and the guy was laying outside the truck.”

Paramedics took the driver to the hospital.  He’s expected to be okay.
