IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 26-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he broke into a Statesville residence and the homeowner held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
On Monday, September 30th, 2019, Iredell County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential break-in on Turnersburg Highway, in Statesville, near Dunlap Gate Road.
Deputies arrived to find the homeowner holding the suspect, 26-year-old Brandon Knight, at gunpoint. Knight was immediately placed under arrest.
The homeowner told deputies that he came home and saw the back door of the residence pried open and then found Knight in a bedroom stealing jewelry.
Investigators found stolen jewelry and other property in Knight’s possession and also discovered evidence of a second breaking and entering at a nearby residence.
Authorities documented the stolen property and returned it to the rightful owners.
Brandon Knight was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and charged with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, and two counts of Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering. He was issued a $30,000 secure bond.
A third breaking and entering was reported later and more charges are expected.
Knight has a criminal history that includes six counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, Two Counts of Soliciting for False Pretense. He is currently on supervised probation for felony Breaking and Entering in New Hanover County.
