A Violent Weekend In CLT: Two People Under 20 Years Old Now Dead Because Of Senseless Violence
CHARLOTTE, NC. — Two people under 20 years old, now dead because of senseless violence. It’s a pattern we’ve seen in Charlotte all too often.
Police are looking for the person who shot 16-year-old Fabrizio Davalos. The shooting happened around one o’clock Sunday morning on Linda Vista Lane near Sunset Road in North Charlotte.
Investigators say Davalos had just left a party at a nearby home when the shooting occurred. The vehicle next to Davalos appeared to have been shot into.
Passion Beckham lives down the road.
“It was a whole bunch of blood on the ground—they was like—it was brutal. They wouldn’t let nobody through,” says Beckham.
The other murder happened just a few hours earlier. Police say 19-year-old Deon-Tray Love got into an argument with a group of people at the Fast Mart on Lawyers Road around eight o’clock Saturday night.
CMPD says 45-year-old Damion Baxter shot Love about a block away, near the intersection of Idlewild Road and Snow Lane. Love died at the hospital.
This is the fourth homicide within a year near the convenience store.
Lajay Myrick is a board member for The Relatives Youth Crisis Center. He thinks solving Charlotte’s crime issues has to start at home.
“Teaching your kids at a young age the severity of the choices you make. Literally a split decision could make or break you, or take your freedom away,” says Myrick.
