JDRF Hosts Annual Hope Gala In Charlotte To Benefit Type 1 Diabetes Research

CHARLOTTE, NC — Don’t miss your chance to support a great cause at this year’s 2019 JDRF Hope Gala happening Saturday, October 26th at The Westin Charlotte in Uptown to benefit type 1 diabetes research.

This premiere event is one of the area’s largest single-event fundraisers, raising a remarkable $1.4 million last year, and upping the goal for this year leading to a whopping $1.5 million to further fund type 1 diabetes research.

The JDRF Hope Gala will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at The Westin Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. and anticipates more than 800 guests to attend in support of JDRF.

JDRF, the leading global nonprofit organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, will present Malcomb Coley, a Charlotte resident and EY’s Carolinas Market Leader and Charlotte Managing Partner with the Living and Giving Award. As the Hope Gala’s Honoree, Malcomb Coley will be recognized for his outstanding commitment to JDRF’s vision of a world without T1D.

“EY is proud of its partnership with JDRF and honored to play a role in their world-wide efforts to end type 1 diabetes. While JDRF works every day to change the reality of T1D for millions of people, EY cares about our employees, families of employees, communities, and clients with families affected by type 1 diabetes,” said Malcomb Coley.

According to Jamie Hayes, Executive Director of JDRF Greater Western Carolinas, the black-tie event will include a cocktail reception; a seated dinner; silent and live auctions; JDRF’s signature Fund A Cure program, during which 100% of all donations go directly toward type 1 diabetes research; and a rockin’ after party with live entertainment from Yacht Rock Schooner. Novant Health’s President and CEO, Carl Armato, is this year’s Fund A Cure Chair and has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 50 years. He is dedicated to helping JDRF provide better lives and ultimately fund a cure for those living with T1D. Kate and Mark Stewart will serve as the 2019 Gala chairs. Kate Stewart is a Tax Operations Leader at Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP and has been living with T1D since her diagnosis in 1989. She is dedicated to volunteering her time to JDRF serving as both the 2019 Gala Chair and Marketing Chair and wants to create a world without type 1 diabetes for everyone living with the disease.
