Edge On The Clock: Carolina Panthers Place Cam Newton On Injured Reserve

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It is official: the season is over for Cam Newton. The Carolina Panthers put the quarterback on injured reserve Tuesday. Newton suffered a Lisfranc injury in the preseason and still hasn’t healed from rehabilitation on the foot.

And in case you missed it: some of us called it Monday night right here on The Edge. Host Morgan Fogarty asked the panel, “When do you think they would put him on IR at some point this season? Do you think it will get to that point?” Two-time Super Bowl champ and former Pittsburgh Steeler Jeff Reed says, “I don’t know, it should have been there already. If you’re really thinking about that.” Reed continues, “There isn’t much rehab for that, besides rest, and if you walk, you’re not resting, so it’s just time for the Panthers to make a decision.”
