CHARLOTTE, NC — A united effort to fight domestic violence.  Community organizers held the Breaking the Chains vigil at the Beatties Ford Road Regional Library in west Charlotte Thursday night.

Dozens showed support for the victims who live in fear.  They also supported families who’ve lost loved ones, and celebrated those who have survived abuse.

“I’m just grateful to God that I heard His voice speak to me and say it was time to go,” said domestic violence survivor Shumorcon Little.  “So I packed up my two children and I left.”

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is observed in October.
