Winter Weather Advisory for Mountains, Freezing Temps Area-Wide
Temps will be dropping through the day today. A changeover from rain to snow likely for the higher elevations with up to an inch possible. Slippery conditions likely with a winter weather advisory in place for Ashe, Avery and Watauga counties until 7am Wednesday. Overnight temps will fall into the 20s with wind chills in the teens for the Piedmont. Drying out tomorrow with highs only reaching the low 40s. Cold through Thursday with temps reaching the mid 50s by Friday. Another round of showers possible on Friday. It will remain below average through the weekend with highs not getting out of the 50s and overnight lows in the mid 30s.
