Will You Shop on Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Procrastinate This Year?

CHARLOTTE, NC — The countdown to the biggest shopping day of the year is on. More than 165 million people plan to shop Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday this year. The biggest shopping day by far is still Black Friday, when 115 million people say they plan to hit the stores.

Blackfriday.com says the average shopper plans to spend $502. Most people say they’re willing to brave the crowds this weekend because the deals are just too good to pass up.

But you may get a better deal by waiting, especially if electronics are on your Christmas gift list. Experts say you can save more money shopping on Cyber Monday, or even on Thanksgiving Day, depending on what you plan to buy. Some stores also offer rock-bottom prices right before Christmas.

So here’s what people plan to buy on Black Friday:

  • 41%: clothes
  • 38%: home goods or small appliances
  • 32%: tablets, laptops or TVs
  • 25%: toys

And that brings us to our Question of the Night: Do you plan to shop on Black Friday, wait until Cyber Monday, or procrastinate this year?
