Seven-Year-Old Carjacking Victim Speaks Only To WCCB Charlotte About His Brave Story Of Survival
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 7-year-old carjacking victim sat down only with WCCB Charlotte to talk about his terrifying ordeal as he sat in the backseat of his mother’s car when two people jumped in and took off. Samir Foard says he feels excited now that he can share his story with other people, but he’s still a bit shaken up. Sunday morning, he and his mom drove to a laundromat on North Tryon Street. His mom left him sitting in the car, while she quickly went inside. Within seconds, two juveniles jumped in the front seat of the car, and drove off with Samir inside. Samir says the juveniles didn’t drive far.
“They point the gun at me to my head and they pushed me out the car and they started driving off,” says Samir Foard.
Samir fell to the ground and quickly got up.
“I started crying and I kinda got lost for a second. Then, I remembered where the laundromat was so I ran to the laundromat and I told my mom somebody stole the car, and she ran outside and she called the cops,” he says.
WCCB Charlotte obtained the surveillance video from the laundromat. Investigators later found the stolen car near Shamrock Drive. Police say three other people joined the two gunmen at some point. Three of them were captured.
“I was brave enough to find my way back to my mom and not be scared of them pointing the gun at me,” Samir says.
Three suspects have been arrested in this case. Their names won’t be released because they are juveniles. Samir says he remained calm during the ordeal because he was playing a game on his mother’s phone.
Samir’s mother did not want to talk on camera. But, told us she is relieved her son is safe.
