ALBEMARLE, NC — The family of the Albemarle High School shooting victim is considering filing a civil lawsuit against the suspected shooter.
An attorney representing Bernard Miller’s family says the 16-year-old has extremely severe injuries. Police say 15-year-old Jalen Russell shot Miller in the hip and lower abdomen on Tuesday.
Russell’s mother told WCCB Charlotte that three kids bullied her son, including Miller. We asked Miller family attorney Ken Harris about the accusation.
“At this point, the investigators have not confirmed any allegations related to bullying,” said Harris. “So we don’t know whether or not those allegations will be explored further. But at this point in time, the investigators have not concluded that was the situation.”
Russell’s mother told WCCB he brought his grandmother’s gun to school in self defense. He remains in custody Friday night, charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
