ALBEMARLE, NC — Police are investigating a Confederate Soldier’s Memorial at the corner of Main and Depot Street that was spray painted with graffiti overnight.
Police say the vandalism was discovered this morning by city employees heading to work. They estimate the painting took place between ten o’clock last night and eight o’clock this morning.
The statue is located in an area called “Liberty Garden.” The area was created after 9/11 to honor all veterans and emergency workers.
An investigation is underway to determine who is responsible for the graffiti.
