LENOIR, N.C. — Caldwell County School System officials says the district has been the target of threatening comments from an out-of-state social media account.
According to officials, local law enforcement agencies are working with federal authorities to investigate the online threats. The threats began at about 12 a.m. on Monday, February 17th, but authorities say there is no imminent danger to any student.
Authorities do not believe the threats are credible but an additional law enforcement presence may be seen on and around school campuses when students return on Tuesday, February 18th.
Administrators say parents have been notified about the investigation and students are encouraged to report any disturbing or dangerous messages that they see online.
