Charlotte as Hollywood of the South may not happen, at least not in the immediate future. The plans to lure major filmmakers to Crown Town is going down. And the place that was going to be studio city is now just a big vacant lot, home to memories of its glory days. And not much else.
The developer that was putting together the studio plans and business complex says the project is on “life support”, and that they’re willing to take the idea somewhere else if Charlotte doesn’t keep coughing up cash.
