ARLINGTON, VA — President Obama honored the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.  Across the country, Americans remembered veterans and honored the fallen on Memorial Day.  During a solemn speech, the President promised long-term care for sick and aging veterans.  He also talked about the personal sacrifice made by families missing loved ones:

“For the parents who lost a child, for the husbands and wives who have lost a partner, for the children who have lost a parent, this day and this place are solemn reminders of the extraordinary sacrifice they have made in our name.”

The speech comes less than 24 hours after the President spoke to American troops in Afghanistan.  He pledged to get soldiers out of the country after nearly 13 years of war.
