FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) β The New England Revolution have reached the top of the MLS’ Eastern Conference by putting together a seven-game unbeaten streak.
The team hasn’t won a playoff series in six seasons and won just one of its first five games this season. But it has won its past five games while outscoring opponents 16-4.
Their next game is Saturday night against the last-place team in the East at Montreal. But New England isn’t getting carried away with its success.
Defender Chris Tierney is in his seventh season with the Revolution and says he’s been on seven-game winless streaks. So he knows it’s important to maintain an even keel whether the team is slumping or streaking.
The winning streak is the Revolution’s longest since 2005.
