CHARLOTTE, NC — The Enterovirus, blamed for making children sick, is spreading in North Carolina.
Health officials have confirmed another three cases, bringing the total to nine. The CDC has confirmed nearly 600 cases of the respiratory virus in 43 states. The death of a preschooler in New Jersey last month is the first linked directly to D-68.
There are things parents can do to protect their children. Make sure they wash their hands regularly. Disinfect commonly-touched surfaces like toys and door handles. And keep sick kids home from school. Some children who have D-68 have also reported experiencing paralysis.
