CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police made an arrest in a sexual assault case from 1998.
Investigators say Dwight Burch forced his way into the victim’s room at the Queen City Motel on Wilkinson Boulevard on March 1, 1998.
According to cold case detectives, Burch physically and sexually assaulted the victim. As a result of the investigation by the Sexual Assault Cold Case Unit, the suspect was identified and taken into custody Monday morning.
He has been charged with 1st degree rape and 1st degree burglary.
