CHARLOTTE, NC — 135 local teachers have free school supplies to help their students start the new year.  They filled their carts at the Classroom Central store in west Charlotte.

The non-profit helps children at high-needs schools in six local districts.

“It’s great because our budgets, as you know, continue to get cut, so.  And we have a lot of students and families as well that need the extra help with supplies.  So to be able to supply those to them, it’s wonderful,” said Shepherd Elementary Principal Teresa Waugh.

The store is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during August.  If you want to help out, Classroom Central needs pencils and STEM supplies.  That includes calculators, protractors and construction paper.
