Β CHARLOTTE, NC —Β Former County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts says she’s running for Mayor of Charlotte. Β The Democrat became the first to announce her intentions for the 2015 election. Β
City Council passed her over when choosing the person to fill the remainder of ex-Mayor Patrick Cannon’s term. Β Roberts says that’s not impacting her decision to run. Β She feels she’s still the best person for the job.
“I’m looking forward to working with everyone in the city to move us forward. I think I’m the best qualified to help build a team and restore transparency, and I look forward to that opportunity,” she said.
Β Mayor Dan Clodfelter has told WCCB Charlotte that he has no plans to run for the office, but has not ruled it out entirely.
