K.J. McDaniels had 24 points lead the Tigers, who were seeking their first-ever 11-win ACC season.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) β South Carolina’s Brenton Williams had seven 3-pointers and a game-high 27 points in a 74-62 road victory over Mississippi State Saturday. Williams had four of those 3-pointers in the second half to highlight a 22-4 run by South Carolina. Sindarius Thornwell added 22 points for the Gamecocks.
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) β Josh Cameron scored 17 points and made critical plays late to lead Coastal Carolina over VMI 66-62 on Saturday and into the Big South conference championship game. The Chanticleers, the No. 1 South Division seed, will play No. 4 South seed Winthrop in Sunday’s championship game, CCU’s first title-game appearance since 2011. VMI was the No. 2 North seed.
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) β Keon Johnson scored the last five points as fourth-seeded Winthrop continues its giant-killer run through the Big South tournament, knocking off No. 2 seed UNC Asheville 80-79 in a semifinal on Saturday. The Eagles ousted top seed High Point with a last-second shot Friday. The Eagles advance to Sunday’s championship for the first time since 2010.
