Suspect Charged In Grier Heights Murder

UPDATE: Detectives have charged Shirley Martin, 22, with the murder of her boyfriend, Anthony Howie, yesterday afternoon.

Martin faces multiple charges including, but not limited to, first degree murder, child abuse, and evading police.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A man shot and killed in Charlotte’s Grier Heights neighborhood.  Now, police have a suspect in custody.

Officers found 33-year-old Anthony Howie shot Tuesday Afternoon on Skyland Avenue.  CMPD says Howie and the shooter knew one another, and had some sort of fight.

“No I didn’t see anything, but I’m just saying this is crazy.  Like, this just needs to stop.  It’s just too much violence,” said a neighbor.
