CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say two acts of violence shouldn’t overshadow an otherwise successful CIAA weekend.
Two people are recovering after being shot at Club Label in the NC Music Factory Saturday night. Β Then early Sunday morning, two people were hurt after being stabbed at the Oasis tent on College Street.
"I would kinda take offense to people who would paint, with a broad brush, a good tournament, with good crowds, based on two acts of violence that happened to take place during the weekend,” said CMPD Deputy Chief Jeff Estes.
Overall, more than 100,000 people attended CIAA events. Β Police arrested five. Β Four of the arrests were alcohol-related and one was for trespassing.
Police have made an arrest in the double stabbing at the Oasis tent. Β 23-year-old Quincy Jones is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
