LOWELL, NC — A man accused of molesting a boy inside a movie theater bathroom in Lowell may have done something similar before. Β Police in Gastonia are looking at him as a suspect in an assault at a Target store.

19-year-old Joshua Weege faced a judge Wednesday by video monitor. Β The judge says he’s a danger to the public and raised Weege’s bond from $150,000 to $250,000. Β The District Attorney says Weege molested a 6-year-old boy, then locked him in a bathroom stall. Β It happened on February 21 at the Regal Cinemas at Franklin Square. Β

The victim’s father spoke briefly during the hearing. Β “I think he’s a menace and needs to be off the streets,” he said.

Weege remained in jail Wednesday night. Β If he posts bond, the judge says he is not allowed around children under the age of 18. Β He has another court date on March 23.
