CHARLOTTE, NC — A fired Charlotte investigator has lost her battle to have the Civil Service Board hear her case.
The board ruled against Crystal Eschert late Wednesday, saying it couldn’t get involved because she didn’t take the civil service exam. Β The Fire Department says she was a civilian employee. Β The city says Eschert was fired in September for social media posts about the Ferguson shooting.
“I’m disappointed, but I’m really not surprised,” said Eschert. Β “I think this does set a precedence to the current Charlotte Fire Department employees that nothing is consistent. Β And really, it kind of goes to over all city employees that the policies in place right now are very inconsistent.”
Eschert is considering appealing the decision in Mecklenburg County civil court.
