Climber Dies After Fall at Crowder’s Mountain

GASTONIA, N.C. — A climber at Crowder’s Mountain has died after falling more than 70 feet. According to Gastonia Fire officials, around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, they were called to the back side of the trail to help a stranded climber that had fallen.

Firefighters repelled down to rescue the climber. Once on the ground, emergency crews tried to revive the climber but he died on the scene.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
