RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β The Obama administration says North Carolina’s marketplace for subsidized health insurance continues to enroll buyers for private coverage at a steady clip. Federal figures show just over 200,000 people had selected a health insurance policy by March 1 β more than half those eligible for the plan in the state.

Pat McCrory says he’s going to stay out of the debate on whether his former employer Duke Energy should be able to pass the costs of closing North Carolina’s coal ash ponds on to consumers. Duke Energy has said the company will pay for the coal ash spill cleanup in the Dan River but wants customers to pay the cost of closing other coal ash ponds.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β A caravan of civil rights activists from Alabama stopped in North Carolina’s capital to bring attention Tuesday to efforts to restore portions of the Voting Rights Act to more Southern states. Nearly 200 people from North Carolina’s Moral Monday campaign and the Alabama-based Saving OurSelves Movement for Justice and Democracy gathered Tuesday outside the old Capitol building in Raleigh.
