Heat, Humidity Hang Around for Workweek

Heat index values could approach the triple digits this week.

Happy Father’s Day! We cranked up the heat this weekend, and there’s no looking back for the near future. Expect highs for the week ahead to ping at around 90º for the Piedmont and Foothills, while we’ll be closer to 80º in the High Country. A weak area of high pressure to the west will keep any long-term rainmaking systems at bay, but it won’t be strong enough to prevent pop-up storms in the afternoons. Eventually, this area of high pressure will retreat and allow for increased rain chances late Tuesday into Wednesday, but we’ll dry out and warm back up again in time for next weekend.

Tonight: Variable clouds. Stray storm chance. Low: 69°. Wind: S 5-10.

Monday: Sunny and hot. PM isolated storms. High: 92°. Wind: SW 5-15.

Monday Night: Storm chance early, then mostly clear. Low: 70°. Wind: SW 5-10.

Tuesday: Fair skies. PM spotty storms. High: 90°. Wind: SW 5-15.
