CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have released the name of the motorcyclist killed in southwest Charlotte.
Police say Lanny Jenkins was driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey van on Pine Harbor Road when he began to make a left turn onto Rainbarrel Road. As Jenkins was making his turn, police say Jenkins saw the headlight of Kenneth Andrews’s 2007 Yamaha motorcycle approaching but was already turning left. Andrews motorcycle crashed into the rear passenger side door of the van.
Police say the impact of the accident sent Andrews and his bike in separate directions. Andrews was wearing a helmet. Andrews died at the scene. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Lanny Jenkins was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle for failing to yield right of way.
