Suspected Charlotte Child Predator Spotted Again?

CHARLOTTE, NC – The property manager at the Westside Apartments on Freedom Drive says she called police after watching WCCB’s report Friday about an attempted child abduction in the University area. She says one of her residents spotted a man in a similar car trying to do the same thing in her neighborhood.

A resident, who didn’t want to show her face on camera, says almost two weeks ago she caught a man trying to lure an 8-year-old boy into his car at the complex. “He just pulled in and was talking to the little boy, and when I started to approach the little boy and go up the street to where he was, to the car, he backed out into the highway, took off and made a U-turn,” she says.

Property manager Teresa Deal says it’s eerily similar to a story we reported Friday about a man who tried to chase a boy near his bus stop in the University area. “If they’ve done it once, and then a second time, it sounds to me like this is someone determined to pick up a child,” Deal says.

The 8-year-old boy says just like in the University area case – the man was driving a silver 4-door car with a South Carolina license plate. The boy says he yelled “get over here little boy, before I kill you.”

Neighbors say it has them on edge and watching their kids closer. “Keep a watchful eye on the community and pay attention to the cars and the people that don’t belong,” one neighbor says.

They report seeing the car pass by the complex as recently as Saturday afternoon. Deal says she’s notified all residents to be on the look out. “Everybody out here don’t love your children. Everybody out here is not a good person. And obviously, this gentleman needs to be caught,” she says.
