DA’s Office: Kilah Davenport’s Death Under Investigation, No New Charges Filed At This Time

MONROE, N.C. — The Union County District Attorney’s Office says the death of Kilah Davenport is in the early stages of investigation.

Therefore, no decision regarding further charges against Joshua Houser has been made.  Houser was convicted of felonious child abuse in the case.  He was sentenced to at least seven and a half years behind bars.

Houser was charged with child abuse against Kilah, who was beaten and left brain damaged when she was 3-years-old.

Her case has spurred changes in North Carolina state law and a similar national effort.
