You can put your hands on Luke Kuechly, but when Luke Kuechly puts his hands on you, watch out! So said the ref in Sunday’s game against Green Bay. Luke’s blind reaction to somebody tugging at him cost him an ejection, and could cost more.
It was pretty clear, both from the video and from Luke’s comments after the game that he had no idea who was grabbing him, pulling him out of the pile. But according to the officials, it didn’t matter. Touching an official gets you tossed, and maybe fined. He got the boot during the 3rd quarter, not that it would have made any difference in the game. But now there’s a hashtag movement, #FreeLuke, urging the NFL not to fine him.
Coach Rivera’s on board with that too, saying Luke doesn’t deserve the punishment. And guess who cam up with it? Our own Morgan Fogarty!
Frankly, the whole thing seems like bull-ognla to us and to our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, who hit the streets with his Bull Chart to see where this call falls on the scale.
