First Charlotte-Area Movie Theater Re-Opens Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
INDIAN LAND — The Redstone 14 Cinema in Indian Land re-opened its doors Friday after Covid-19 slammed them shut more than 5 months ago.
And, as soon as you walk through the doors, there are reminders about strict safety protocols. Governor Henry McMaster lifted restrictions on businesses, like movie theaters, earlier this month, but it took Stone Theatres weeks to get workers trained on new safety measures.
Movie-goers must stay 6 feet apart, leave three seats open between each party, and wear a face mask. The auditoriums are sanitized after each screening.
“It’s been a very difficult 5 months, but we are thrilled to be able to open the two in South Carolina,” says Dale Coleman, VP of Stone Theatres.
Coleman says it’s crucial to re-open their four other locations in North Carolina. But, that can only happen if Governor Roy Cooper allows the state to move into Phase 3 after September 11.
