Serious Crash Involving Medic Ambulance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On August 31, 2020 around 2:30am, a Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) ambulance was involved in a vehicle accident on I-277 and Independence. The ambulance was driving inbound and was struck by another vehicle traveling the wrong way. At the time of the accident the ambulance was occupied by two Medic employees with no patients on board.

Both Medic employees did sustain injuries and were taken to Atrium Health’s CMC main, however their current condition is non-life threatening.

Four patients from the second vehicle involved were transported to Atrium Health’s CMC main with life-threatening injuries. Any further details will be released after the investigation is complete.
