LILESVILLE, NC —Β Crews will be back out Saturday morning looking for possible human remains on property in Anson County. Β They used a backhoe to gently dig on 30 acres in Lilesville this afternoon, after investigators and cadaver dogs searched the property. Β
It’s owned by the family of a former Wadesboro funeral home owner. Β Police found two decomposing bodies inside Mary McLendon’s former business on Wednesday. Β They were there at least two years. Β People who live across from the search area are shocked.
Β “I just felt like it was bodies over there once they started digging and everything had the dogs out, and I was like, ‘Wow, really?’ Β Shocked,” said Wadesboro resident Angeline Gainey.
McLendon has already been convicted of one crime connected to this investigation. Β A judge sentenced her Wednesday to at least six months in prison.
