World War Two Veteran Throws First Pitch as Charlotte Remembers D-Day

 CHARLOTTE, NC / WASHINGTON, D.C. — Charlotte remembers the 70th anniversary of D-Day.  A 90-year-old World War Two veteran threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday night’s Charlotte Knights game.  

Lewis Easterling flew fighter missions during the war.  He was injured, and was even held as a prisoner of war.  Easterling received the Purple Heart and several other military awards.
