CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) β North Carolina coach Larry Fedora says the school is working with the family of an incoming recruit arrested on a felony charge to determine his future at the school. Wake County court records show Avery Edwards of Wake Forest was arrested for felony larceny Thursday. The 18-year-old tight end had seven touchdown catches last season as a senior at Ravenscroft High School, a private academy in Raleigh.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) β Furman isn’t done on the football field with former Southern Conference rival Elon. Furman athletic director Gary Clark said Friday the Paladins had scheduled football games with Elon in 2017 and 2018.
RUSTON, La. (AP) β Louisiana Tech Athletic Director Tommy McClelland has named Greg Goff as the Bulldogs’ new baseball coach. Goff, whose hiring was announced Friday, comes to Ruston after a seven-year stint as the head coach at Campbell University in North Carolina.
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) β SunEnergy1 will sponsor four NASCAR Nationwide Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing. Matt Kenseth, Sam Hornish and SunEnergy1 CEO Kenny Habul will share the driving duties. Hornish will drive SunEnergy1’s debut race next weekend at Michigan International Speedway.
