Police: Skeletal Remains Of Missing 78-Year-Old Man Found In Northwest Charlotte

The Latest:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives say on Wednesday they located the skeletal remains of a human body on Lasalle Street. The victim has been identified as 78-year-old David Crawford, who authorities say went missing in 2020.

Detectives say they do not believe foul play is involved.

The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 78-year-old man who was last seen Monday.

Detectives say David Crawford was last seen on Aug. 31st, around 6:30 p.m., at his residence of Lasalle Street, off of Bill Lee Freeway and nearby Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Park, in northwest Charlotte.

Crawford has been described as a black man who is 5’5″ tall and weighing 130 pounds. He has gray hair, brown eyes and walks hunched over. Police say he was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a blue long sleeve, button-up shirt, and white sneakers.

Mr. Crawford was possibly seen in the University Area on Tuesday Sept. 1.

Anyone with information on Mr. Crawford’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Detective Bonaparte is the lead detective assigned to this case.
