Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have classified this case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the case and concurred with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone in this case. Read below for more details on the shooting.
Update (9/7/20):
Charlotte police say the man that was found dead after a welfare check early Sunday morning in northwest Charlotte has been identified.
According to CMPD, the deceased victim in this case has been identified as 45-year-old Oldin Jacinto Diaz Lainez.
There is no update on the second victim in the case who reportedly has non-life threatening injures.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say officers found a man dead and a second man shot on South Crigler Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, September 6th.
The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a news release.
Detectives say they are not looking for any suspects at this time, as they continue their investigation
