
GASTONIA, N.C.– The Gastonia Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon.
At 2:06 p.m. firefighters were called to a reported structure fire in the 400 block of Apple Street in Gastonia.
When firefighters arrived they found a one story house with smoke coming from the structure and found fire in the kitchen.
It took firefighters about ten minutes to control the fire.
Officials say the occupants of the house were not home at the time of the fire and they were able to rescue the family dog.
The fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damages.
Officials say the fire started when when the occupants left something cooking in the oven.
