ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — UPDATE: Authorities have located a missing woman and her great-grandson in Davie County. Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman tells WCCB 76-year-old Mary Ann Yoder and her great-grandson were found safely at a truck stop in Mocksville just after 8 p.m. Sheriff Bowman says it appeared that they had been in some sort of accident because both airbags were deployed. Family members are on the way to Davie County to be reunited with Yoder and the child.
A silver alert was issued early Monday for Yoder and her great-grandson Dustin Byers after family members say she was supposed to drop the child off at Stoney Point Elementary School. School officials say the child never showed up. Authorities say around 12:30 p.m. surveillance video captured Yoder at Barker’s Log Cabin Grocery in Harmony. It is believed that she was trying to find her way home.
