GASTONIA, N.C. — The Gastonia Police Department says the driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Track, 39-year-old Kristen Townsend, died Wednesday, September 23rd after hitting another vehicle head-on.
Investigators say the other driver of a 2014 Ford Explorer, 42-year-old Shauna Burger, was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Around 10 p.m. Townsend was driving north on North New Hope Road, as Burger was driving south, and the two vehicles collided head-on in the roadway, according to a news release.
