S.C. Governor Henry McMaster Lifts Restaurant Occupancy Limits

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order to lift all occupancy limitations in restaurants throughout South Carolina immediately, according to a news release.

“South Carolina is open for business” said Gov. Henry McMaster. “Our state’s approach has been a measured, deliberate, and targeted one – aimed at keeping our economy open and our people safe.”

South Carolina’s restaurants have been open at 50 percent capacity, and this new order will allow them to open at 100 percent capacity, according to a news release.

Gov. McMaster says everyone must continue wearing masks, and alcohol sales will still be restricted after 11 p.m. until further notice.

Gov. McMaster says other safety measures are encouraged, but not required including the following:

  • Restaurants should space indoor and outdoor tables six feet apart.
  • Restaurants should limit seating each table to no more than eight customers and patrons, excluding family units or members of the same household.
  • Restaurants should use and enforce a process to ensure customers are able to maintain a minimum of six feet of separation from other parties waiting to be seated.
  • Restaurants should minimize, modify, or discontinue services that allow customers to fill or refill their own beverage cups.
