S.C. Troopers Investigate Death Of Pedestrian Hit By Car

JEFFERSON, S.C. — Troopers say the driver of a 2010 Ford Focus hit and killed a pedestrian crossing the road around 2:10 a.m. on October 3rd.

Driver of the Ford, 49-year-old Melissa Hopkins, was heading south on SC Highway 265 when the victim left a stopped vehicle and was hit trying to cross the road, according to a news release.

Investigators say Hopkins and her passenger were not injured, and were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Troopers say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
