Co-Founder of Charlotte Group, ‘Mothers of Murdered Offspring’ Dies
CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte community remembers the life of a Champion for victims of violence.
Judy Williams, the Co-founder of the group, Mothers of Murdered Offspring, died Saturday, after battling lung cancer.
Williams spent 27 years comforting family members who lost loved ones to violence…holding thousands of candlelight vigils to remember the victims.
She started MOMO back in 1993, after her goddaughter, Shawna Hawk was murdered by a serial killer in Charlotte.Β 10 others were also killed.
“So many times she told me it was her calling it was what she was supposed to be doing, and she was so comfortable in that place,” says Lisa Crawford with Mothers of Murdered Offspring.
Her organization announced it plans to host a candlelight vigil Friday night at 6 at Marshall Park.
