CHARLOTTE, NC — Mecklenburg County is reassuring people that personal health information has not been compromised. A woman who worked at the Department of Social Services is charged in connection to a scheme to defraud Medicaid.
According to court documents, Ieshia Watkins sold names and other information of DSS clients. Investigators say the man she shold them to submitted fake claims to Medicaid.
Mecklenburg County Spokesperson Rick Christenbury told WCCB Charlotte, “DSS has many safeguards in place to protect the private and confidential information that it collects. We have no information to suggest that protected health or security information was provided.”
