HUDSON, N.C. — Troopers say the driver of an 2009 Pontiac Vibe died after running from the scene of an accident and getting hit by another car around 5:30 a.m. on October 14th.
Investigators say the Pontiac driver was heading north on US 321 when he rear-ended a 2007 Honda Accord stopped at a red traffic light, and fled the accident on foot across the highway.
While running across the roadway, he was hit by a 2011 Honda Odyssey heading south on US 321, and died at the scene, according to a news release.
Detectives say the driver of the Accord, 25-year-old Keaton Allen, and the driver of the Odyssey, 58-year-old Lesia Spears, were not injured.
Police say portions of US 321 were closed for two hours during the investigation.
The victim has not been identified, and no charges are expected although the investigation remains ongoing, according to a news release.
