CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board is starting the search for a long-term superintendent. Β The shadow of Heath Morrison’s controversial departure is still looming.
Board members started discussing the search process at a special meeting Wednesday night, but did not come away with a formal process for finding the next superintendent. Β The board also talked about Morrison’s resignation last November, after a secret investigation into claims he bullied staff members.
“We also talked about the value of reflecting on the series of unfortunate events of last year, and putting ourselves in a position to differentiate ourselves from competing districts that are going after the most talented person to lead our district,” said board member Eric Davis.
The board voted in January to name Ann Clark as Superintendent until 2016. Β Clark said she did not want to be considered for the position long term.
