Β CHARLOTTE, NC — If you go by the numbers, crime in Charlotte appears to be headed in the right direction.
CMPD say the third quarter crime stats are down significantly from last year. Β The department reports overall crime is down 2.2 percent. Β Murders showed the biggest decline. Β So far there have been 29 homicides, compared to 40 at the same time last year. Β That’s a 27 percent drop. Β Robberies are also supposedly down 13 percent. Β
Police say they’re in the middle of an operation to stop Internet-based prostitution in local hotels. Β They tell WCCB they’ve seen an increase in the number of men being robbed after hiring prostitutes, but they declined to provide specific stats.
